What a case is the creature! Throughout the book, the creature is figuring out who he is and who his intention is to be as he was created via chemistry by Victor Frankenstein. It is in chapter eleven, that the monster finds a woodshed located just outside of a remote cottage and decides to observe the people of this village. In chapter twelve, as he observes, he notices a sense of unhappiness looming over the village. He writes " What did their tears imply? (2nd paragraph on 102)” only to realize in the next paragraph that it was poverty that they were suffering through: " Their nourishment consisted entirely of the vegetables of their garden, and the milk of one cow, which gave very little during the winter, when its masters could scarcely procure food to support it. ” " This trait of kindness moved me sensibly” he writes in the fourth paragraph. He shares he was responsible for stealing some of their produce but after finding out he might have been their cause of pain by eating a lot of their limited food supply, he stops taking from them, and eats off of the berries, nuts, and roots of the forest surrounding his shed.…...
